Bob wanted to do Pescadero. I was hoping to get my car back for this weekend but they weren't quite finished so I met the guys at OLH. Since Stage is still closed, as far as I know, we came back over W. Alpine.
None of us were expecting it to be so hot today. I started the morning in shorts and short sleeves and a vest but quickly took my vest off. I was so shocked to see people fully layered up. It wasn't like it was sunny with wind chill. It was hot.
When we went over Skyline to the coast side, it got chillier and it was more of what I was expecting but it was only in the sudden pockets and then it would go right back to being hot without much of a transition.
At lunch we were visited by a begging cat. Bob was the first to be courted but he didn't fall for it. Next was Sonny who fed half his chicken club sandwich to the cat. I was full and still had like a quarter of my chicken club so I gave that to the cat too. I think the cat had a good nap after.
All the shade on the way back was welcome as it was quite warm in the sun. We tried to keep the watts down climbing up Haskins and W. Alpine but Sonny doesn't know how to do that.
We parted ways on Page Mill as the descent started. I quickly caught up to traffic though. I couldn't believe it. There were two SUVs ahead of me but I think it was really the front one that was slowing us all down. I ended up passing the one ahead of me so I could then pass the bottleneck SUV. Ended up passing them just before Moody.
Then shortly after Foothills there was this BMW going really slowly on the road. I don't know what they were doing so I passed them too. I never saw any of them again.
With the Ralston bike path still closed there's really no good way back. I'm tired of riding Alameda de las Pulgas. I thought about doing Emerald Hills but my legs were starting to fade.
