The plan was to head to Pescadero but Sonny needed to be back early. We had a bit of deja vu heading up Page Mill again. Once we got to the base of Haskins, it was clear we wouldn't make it.
With limited lunch options, the obvious choice was to head to Alice's Restaurant! I raced ahead to get our names on the list. Over lunch we were trying to figure out our best option for the rest of the ride and doing an out'n'back seemed like the one.
Another deja vu moment, as we started to head down Hwy 84, I was about to do a fake fast pedal like I did the week before when a racer dude flew passed us, when a racer dude flew passed us!
The rest of the ride was pretty uneventful until the top of W. Alpine. At one point, I saw Bob behind me and then he wasn't there anymore (deja vu moment with Daniel Cavey). I waited on the other side of Skyline for the guys but saw no one for a while. I thought maybe they went to the restroom. At one point a Park Ranger coming up from Page Mill eyed me checking to see if I needed help. I would understand why later.
Finally, I decided to ride back to the Russian Hill parking lot and I saw no one there. Then I got worried and retraced back. I was riding for a while wondering why I didn't see anyone yet. I figured it wasn't this far when I lost sight of Bob and I turned around. Then a bunch of Park Rangers with their sirens going came flying toward me.
I turned around again thinking the worst. A few turns later I came around a corner and found Bob sitting on the ground at the side of the road bleeding.
He had slid out in the turn and ended up in the opposite lane. I didn't even hear him go down it happened so quickly and far enough behind me I guess.
A whole bunch of Park Rangers, the Sheriff and Fire Dept. came to check him out before releasing him.
We took it easy the rest of the way back. Bob managed to scrap his forehead pretty good and he must of rolled because he had cuts on both sides of his body.
