Mixed surface ride starting at Cove Lake State Park in Caryville, TN. At about 2 miles I made a right turn at about 1.5 miles, should been a left. Don’t make that mistake. Shortly you’ll be turning right by the Shoney’s, then begin climbing Tower Rd. 4 miles, 1700’ to get you warmed up, then descend the backside into the valley. Once there you’ll have ~ 10 miles of rolling gravell and chip seal to Smoky Junction, aboutt 16 miles in. Restock there at Hembree’s, if needed. They’ll even make you a sandwich, if you like.
From there continue up the road, it willl turn to pavement soon and stay that way. Expect little traffic and loads of mountain views. You’ll work your way to Hwy 63 about mile 33 and there is a little country store about mile 31. 63 is a busy highway with a broad shoulder, about 7 miles worth on this route, several stores as well. When you leave it you’ll be back on two lanes following a creek and rails back to Caryville. Enjoy! Of note as well; we had 4” of rain the day before this ride, roads were perfect. Last shot of my bike for reference. It was nearly clean.😎
