Fuel EX 9.8. Cloudy and gray, cold - 24 at the start, up to 28 by rides end, wind chill was 11 to 16, SSW winds were 16 mph with gusts over 20 mph. There was a crosswind the entire ride, at times brutal with no cover and lots of blowing snow and drifting. It looked like they groomed the trail late yesterday and I noticed the snow was soft and at times 'buttery', especially over bridges and at road crossings, probably due to the salt. It was much harder going than Saturday, when the snow was fresher and cleaner. Just as I finished riding it started to rain, which immediately began to freeze on the roads and cars. Good thing I got an early morning start, parked at the Virgil Catholic Church on Meredith Rd. I had planned on riding all the way into Sycamore to the Circle K but there was no trail clearance at all - grooming stopped at the old trailhead on Old State Rd. I saw no other riders, snowmobilers or hikers; That tells you everyone else has better sense than me.
