Hillsboro to Hatch NM

Today looked like it should have been pretty easy, and the first 20 miles weren't bad at all - then the wind came! Longest day of the trip so far and I feel pretty good. I messed up and was planning to stay at the Kings Pillow Motel - I pulled in the parking lot and immediately pulled back out - what a dump. It's a literal crack house just waiting to be in an episode of COPS if it hasn't been one (or two) already. Going to bandit camp in the local community center park and hope for the best - I asked a cop if it would be OK and he didn't seem to mind. Tomorrow is las cruces where I will have a motel room!!!
