Riders: LP, Eric, Andrew, Rod
After talking about doing this ride for quite some time now, we finally decided to give it a shot.
As we were headed to the beach, we took the Trailer Canyon Fire Road which brought us to Michael Ln. From there we descended to Palisades Dr, then Sunset to Temescal Cyn to PCH/Will Rogers State Beach.
We took a quick break then headed to the Temescal Cyn Gateway Park where we found out the trails that started there did not allow bicycles.
We went back to Sunset and made a right at Bienveneda and took that up until we saw a singletrack trail that led to the Temescal Cyn Ridge Trail. Bikes were not allowed there as well, but we ended up just hiking it for a good while until we saw a sign that told us we were allowed to get back on the bikes.
From there, we discovered that it brought us back to the fork where we got some help from a couple of fellow riders earlier in the day. We were back on track and made it back to the cars (was there any doubt, ha).
I'm pleased I was able to ascend this steep, rocky, and loose climb. It was a challenge that I accepted. Aggression was key. :)
Next time, we will take the same trail that brought us to the neighborhood to avoid all the hiking.
The map isn't 100% accurate since I wasn't able to see the singletrack trails that we hiked up on the map and the fact that the site was super slow when trying to go over the same route that we did on the return, out of frustration, I started drawing a second line somewhat parallel to the original route. I need a GPS device to do all this!
I feel great! What a ride!
