A ride on the NH Ice cream Trail to Lone Oak Ice Cream of Rochester, NH. Ride starts and ends at a park 'n ride in Dover, NH. A sports shop with bikes near the start might be handy for those last minute issues. So might a Diner: the Far Out Diner, just the other side of the bike place on Oak. On your way, Salmon Falls Stoneware pops right up, with a nice shop of salt glazed stoneware. Somersworth street fair kept me from riding Main Street. Old Ox Rd posed a problem... it's unpaved and does not go thru as hinted at on some maps. A while later there was Penny Lane ... and then I found a penny! You can't make this stuff up. I often find pennies on rides, and sometimes larger coinage. Woo Hoo. Near the Ice Cream spot is Stonewall Kitchen's Factory Store. The ride back is more urban at the start thru Rochester downtown area. Unusually, there is a good independent book store still in business in Rochester. Says a lot for Rochestorians. Back in Dover I was held up by the Downeaster run by Amtrak at the transportation center. It pulled out and I pulled in, to access the handy Community Trail. Nearing the end, a ride into a working area of the river finds The Castaways, Police feeding the Force, a purple doored house. And back to Far Out. A final visit by car to the front doors of Salmon Falls Stoneware.
