A ride on the NH Ice Cream Trail to the University of New Hampshire's Dairy Bar in Durham, NH. Ride begins and ends at a parking area near Londonderry, NH Rail Trail. Almost immediately one is reminded of what to do. Then, further on, encouragement is offered. Churches are passed, Cemeteries are whistled past, monuments and Historic Markers are seen. A Charity Ride rest stop surprises at the Deerfield Fairgrounds. Then the Lakes show up. Pleasant Lake, Northwood Lake, Harvey Lake (didn't see any Pookas), Bow Lake (out and back since Bennett Bridge Road proved to "un-maintained" and un-rideable. A short section of Ridge Road was also unpaved, but I think that was due to paving work. Scout Camps, and Information Centers are along the Lakes. Turns out, this ride follows some of LaFayette's Tour of June, 1825! Bringing us to stop one: Calef's Country Store, Barrington, NH. Snappy Cheese is offered, along with a full deli of lunch items, and ice cream, though that would wait since this is not on the official ice cream trail. Lots of other NH items for sale. Re-water at a "filling station" just down the road. Into Dover, to find the Transportation Center and Amtrak Station at the head of the Dover Community Trail. (see Lone Oak Ride for more pics). The secret to the fence across the Trail, is to just ride through it. Then ride through the tunnel. Some time later arrive at the main destination: The University of New Hampshire Dairy Bar, Durham, NH. I ran out of film at that point, plus I had to make better time to get in before dark.... but at mile 82 I found the THIRD penny of the ice cream rides series. Keep going, this is not the Pitts.
