We took off just after 7:30am and headed for the high school to see the Pelotonia riders coming in to their 25 mile rest stop. There were deputies at Pickerington Rd. stopping traffic (and us) to allow the riders to pass. We could hear the cheers from the crowds at the school as we continued east on Refugee. We turned north on Tollgate and enjoyed the beautiful scenery including the covered bridge. We passed Chris's house and saw his Pelotonia sign in the yard. Then on out Palmer to Smoke and into Pataskala where we stopped for a break at the Nutcracker. One of the cooks came out and chatted with us about the bike. Then over to Blacks and a short stop at a garage sale before heading on out to York and Beaver Run. We made it out to Hebron and pulled into TJ Evans park to use the Port-O-Potty. There we saw a photographer taking pics of a beautifully restored old Ford 500. It was purple and they were from Kansas here to try and sell it at this weekend's event at National Trails Raceway. Then off to Heath where we found the Heath History Museum open. We stopped in for a visit and were treated to a short history lesson of the railroads, canals, and amusement parks of the area. The nice volunteers answered my questions and we saw lots of artifacts, old pictures, and signed their register. Then on to Canal Rd where we spotted a kingfisher, lots of heron and turtles, and some dead fish. We rolled on into Millersport where we noticed the Valero gas station was now a Circle K and gas was down to $3.28. Then on over to Canal Rd where a guy on a motorcycle pull along side to ask if we wanted to race and to say "She's not pedalling". Then Cherry, Kumler and into Baltimore. We came in 158 and were stopped by the police blocking traffic for the Baltimore Festival Parade which was in progress up on Market St. We made our way up there and watched the Watkins marching band, various other parade queens, and old tractors pass by. Then along the parade route into Subway for lunch. We took off up the Washington Street where some folks were frantically searching for their little dog, "Taffy" who had taken off during the parade. We said we would keep an eye out for her. Sure enough, we spotted her a few blocks on playing with a guy by his garage. We yelled back to the owners down the street and they came over and were reunited. Then on over to Basil Western where we caught up with 6 of those tractors from the parade slowly making their way to a farm where they turned off after waving to us riding by. Then to Diley and back to Picktown.
