Had to wait to start the ride due to heavy rains. Daunell and I rode to my childhood home to check it out. Then we rode around Trout Lake. My childhood memories didn't recall the number of hills are how steep they are. Daunell has not up to such hills, especially since her knee has been hurting her.
Going down one hill that was -13% gradient, I saw pot holes across the road and was motioning to Daunell to be careful. I was too focused on motioning to her and ended up doing a face plant on the road since my front wheel washed out on the slick pavement.
I had to stop and do surgery on the handle bars to recover. Then the rain really started coming down hard. We rode up about the next mile at 4% to 10% gradients. There was a long stretch of about 9%. Then we topped the hill and went down a little and then had to climb a hill of 15%. Aside from worrying about Daunell and the hills and the wipe out, I enjoyed the ride - even though there was rain.
