The plan was to ride a pre-set route in this massive trail system for about 16 to 18 miles. But what really happened was a lot less and simply whetted the appetite for a return. The area is an hour+ drive from ABQ, but of the bits we saw it has a lot of interesting trails that aren't killers, technically, though we did not get into the ridges area to the west. Ride ended up shorter after it was belatedly discovered about a mile in that both companions were on bikes with rather sketchy brakes. With no way to fix or adjust hydraulic brakes, the route was quietly changed to flatter areas and into a much shorter loop. Long way to go for not even an hour of moving time, but regardless, we were outside and in good company so it was not a total loss. Gonna go back, though, maybe on the way out of town, since it's in that general direction. It's a bit higher there than ABQ and that first climb was a reminder of that, but otherwise things felt pretty good. w/Nora, Andrew
