Today is the first ride that I tried the cleat change for the entire ride. I think it made a major difference. Just eye-balling it, I can see that my shoe isn't aligned with the spindle over the ball of my foot. About the ride... The day was nice and cool, I wore one base layer. My legs felt good. I made it to the top of the descent in about 10 minutes. The way down was real easy, no big efforts. I thought that the ascent was going to be more difficult, as I have not done this ride in over a week. The major factor of this ride was my right leg. Was it going to cramp? It turns out that it did not. This confirms that the cleat placement seems to be helping, but it's not 100% confirmed yet. I still have a (SS,R) ride to do, and then the double. If both pass then it's looking good for the Spooktacular ride. But, I will still be doing my usual rides in the following week. If the leg starts to show signs of more cramping, then I have to scratch the ride. I want to do a recon for the metric century. More specifically, the patch going from the Caliente basin to the road that leads to Bakersfield. I need to see if the construction from last year is done. Back to the ride... I did good tempo and I did a good dig over the Loop Monument and over the Summit. Both of which was a good test for the leg. There were almost no other ailments, only a bit of numbness in the right hand. My concentration was good for the most part. I can't really comment on balance, but I think it's better than when the cleat was unadjusted. The bike and gear are working great. I am hearing a bit of clicking on the bike, in and out of the saddle. I'm not sure what to make of it, as I have reseated the wheels. Could be the seat, but more likely something else such as the stem.
