Always held on Nov. 3.
This continues to be a first class ride, and a great event for a good, charitable cause, benefiting some good, local people that have suffered hard times.

I rode solo, and not very fast this year as I have been de-training more or less since March. I only averaged 4.5 mph on the Deer Creek climb; but then, it IS 2.3 miles at an AVERAGE grade of 11.3%. :-)
Still, a very satisfying day, and, as always on this ride, I saw several friends out enjoying the event. (Except, maybe Brook, who suffered a ride-ending mechanical.)
A couple of the rest stops were relocated. The Latigo rest stop was at a fire station, 2.6 miles from the start of the climb (where I have found it in the past); probably a good move to allow the system to absorb sugar and for any snacks to settle before hitting the climb. The rest stop at the top of Latigo was moved to Kanan and Mulholland, which was NOT an improvement as it is too close (7.3 miles) to the last rest stop, which, in turn, is only 10 miles from the finish; much better to have this at the top of Latigo, particularly for anyone that has been suffering. It was cool today, but if it had been particularly hot, this might have caused some problems; on the other hand, they had a water-only volunteer at the top of the first (main) climb up Latigo. Also, Mavic was not there in force this year, with the motorbikes and cars; not that they are really needed, but it is certainly impressive to have that support out there.
Stopped time:
Moment of silence: 5:13
Deer Creek (top): 1:06
Mulholland: 2:20
Latigo stop: 8:30 (CamelBak issues - refilling)
Last rest stop: 1:10
