The weather was spot on today. Just warm enough to wear arm coolers. Winds were from the South today. I had my mind set on the complete SS ride. When I got out, I noticed the wind was from the South, so I had to play it by ear. I felt about average making my way out to OTR. I had the wind on my back, going up Banducci. It went quick. And I was able to push the pace just a bit, especially over the wall. The downhill was fun. Reaching 42MPH+. I knew there were going to be some gremlins today. Just not sure how significant. Mostly ambient with some patches of greater than normal. I was making my way out to SS, the wind continuing to be on my back. I was in and out of traffic very quick. Making for a fast loop around SS. I was well ahead of 1:00 hrs going through the SS tunnel. Then the return trip. I knew it was going to be less than average. doing mostly between 12-16MPH. I kept the tempo steady. No accelerations. HR in the 140+ BPM range. I was looking forward to the last climb, being that it has shelter from the wind. I stopped at the summit to swap out batteries on the GoPro camera. From there, it was mostly recovery and cruising the downhill. My concentration was steady for the most part. Just those areas of questionable gremlins proved to be a challenge. I was having to coach myself part of the way. Trying to keep it real, and not floating too much in the mind. It didn't work all of the time, but I made it back in one piece. Balance and form felt good, not great. Ailments consisted of left calf soreness, right hand numbndess. Gear is working well, but the SD card had problems, half way in the ride. I think I'll request an RMA replacement. Otherwise, everything else is working great. Other notes, no other cyclists today.
