Sunnyside Saddle

Remote pass in the San Juan Mountains beginning at Silverton Ski area base climbing to nearly 13000 feet in elevation. Conditions vary from improved gravel road to 3 point carry over Sunnyside Saddle. Snow often stays in the bowl area near the Sunnyside Mine requiring the use of a "bike glissade" to descend the steep snowfield. Point of Interest--Lake Emma originally occupied the "hole" at the base of the pass. The Lake was instantly drained when mine workings intercepted the bottom of the lake (June 1978). No one was working the mine that day when the contents of the lake drained from the mine directly into Cement Creek on the far side of the pass.

    Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.

    Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
