A wonderful 60 mile ride today with +Phil Paulsen and Janet. We rode the recently completed Heart of Ohio Trail which runs from Centerburg through Mt Vernon, then Gambier, and Danville where it's called the Kokosing trail. Along the way we found some llamas who seemed as curious about us as we were about them. Then we stumbled upon this magnificent old building in a small town called Bangs. We stopped to investigate and determined that it was really old and dilapidated (Words often used to describe me ;-) It turns out this was used to house the county's poor in the mid nineteenth century. Here is a link to it's fascinating history:

In Mt Vernon we stopped for a great breakfast at Barb's Diner then rode through town to find the trailhead for the Kokosing trail. We jumped on the trail and followed the river through woodlands, surrounding hills, and farmland now fragrant with the aroma of freshly spread manure. Then all the way to Danville where we turned around and headed back as the temperatures climbed into the mid 50s. Not to shabby for mid November in Ohio.
