Training objective: easy tempo rides this week until recovered from my stomach bug
Okay, I got heck from Coach Morne for doing that hard ride on Saturday while still sick: "I don't ever want to hear that when you are sick or have a stomach bug, that you ride or are going hard. You don't want to do that."
Hey, what can I say, you give me a plan, I stick to it, come hell or high water. But now I know.... :)
So, for the rest of the week we're just doing easy tempo rides until I feel better and have some power back.
I was feeling a bit weak today - it was okay at the start, but by about the 1/3 to 1/2 mark, I was feeling more fatigued than usual - especially for an easy tempo ride. The heart rate was getting up there even on some of the smaller hills. And I was way off my usual pace for the first 50 minutes of this route which takes me to the Tramonto turn (even if it was supposed to be a relatively easy spin).
I hate admitting or giving into weakness, so that's pretty hard to swallow - grrrrrr!
But by the last 1/4 of the ride or so and I was feeling strong(ish) again - I didn't push any harder, it just got a bit easier. You can see that in the segment times, as well (and despite the gravel roads being incredibly corrugated in some places as well).
Will take it a bit slower tomorrow and try to keep the heart rate closer to 145 bpm's...

Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
