Training objective: 2-4 hour tempo ride with the heart rate between 140-150 bpm's and the cadence running at 75-85 rpm's.
As luck would have it, I applied a bit of dry lube and then it turned into a wet, cold, windy - and slippery - day. At least the chain was quiet! And it gave me a chance to practice putting on and taking off my rain jacket at 31-32 km/hr - lining up the zipper is the hard part, especially when the jacket fills with air in the billowing wind like a jib sail! :)
Had to take it easy on the corners and in the villages with traffic or sharp turns.
Around the 47 km mark I discovered I had a broken spoke on the rear wheel - it could have happened yesterday when I heard a loud pop, but I didn't see it when I did my post-ride bike inspection...). So, I took it especially easy on the cobblestones/bricks and cattleguards after that and cut the ride short to protect the rim. Me and wheels - if it's not tubes, it's spokes, sheesh!
Used the lap/split function for to set the 1 and 2 hour marks.
