Steffen and I arrived at the bridge early to help get riders signed-in; man, there were a lot of riders today! The weather couldn't have been better with highs in the 60s and calm winds. I rode with Steffen and Angela off-and-on to the lighthouse; I couldn't find Arnim at the start once everyone started to roll out. Anne K and I chatted from Camino Alto to White's hill where I had to bail out for a bathroom break. I enjoyed a mostly-solo ride from White's hill the rest of the way to the lighthouse where I caught up with Arnim. He was with a co-worker and a couple of other friends; I was glad to see he was doing OK and having a good time. I rode with Arnim and Jonathan from the lighthouse the rest of the way to the finish. Along the way I chatted with Irving and Brian. We stopped in Point Reyes Station to tank up before heading to Marshall. Once there we got our brevet cards stamped, I said hello to Steffen and Angela and then we headed South again. We decided to stop again in Point Reyes Station for more liquid refreshments. That delayed our finish until a little after dark but it was delicious, relaxing and well worth it. Arnim and Jonathan were very strong and fast riders - I frequently fell off the back of their mini paceline. They insisted on waiting for me, though, so we all finished together. Both of them were new to Brevet riding and they both were in fine shape at the end of the ride. Steffen waited for me at the finish - I arrived about twenty minutes after him. We stopped at Curry Up Now Indian food on Valencia for dinner.
