See the funny looking loop on the right ? Lol; you can probably guess what happened. I latched on to a group of 3 practicing for the Galveston Half Iron and they skipped 1st rest...BUT...here it is...yup they got off route ! Luckily this off route part passes very close by Pace Bend and Muleshoe MTB loops on Lake Travis so I knew where we were and knew HWY 71 was coming and thus got us back "on track" !! We ended up with same distance...58ish miles that we would have if we would have stayed on course and rode the little out and back to Hamilton Pool that starts where you see "V" shape at bottom of map rte here. So all great ! Tacos at end---a band was setting up but I skipped as it was cold and windy ! Sally hung at the arts and crafts thing going on just 2 blocks away in Marble Falls downtown area. Now too bad these RAAM rides in the Austin area are not well attended BUT it is only the 2d year. Last year they had a total of 100 riders all distances. This year maybe same or even less. It doesn't cost any more than any other benefit or t shirt ride. I really think people are scared off by the Ride Across America brand thinking it is an exclusive ride or something. They do offer routes of 200 and 400 miles (400 milers have to be done at 10 AM tomorrow), but also offer 50, 60, 100 and a 10K run as well ! I just think they need better advertising. All in all, cold, wet, windy, hilly, I still had a good time along with the 30 or so on the 60 mile route ! Pictures a little later !
