Woke up early to climb up the nearby mountain for the morning views.
We were met by rush hour traffic and a huge number of motos in the bike lane and much dodging and weaving and chaos. We’d gotten good at navigating the traffic in China (foreshadowing?).
Once we got clear of the downtown, traffic was better and it was absolutely quiet once we got to the climb.
Thankful the 2000’ climb wasn’t fairly gradual. I didn’t feel fresh but I also didn’t feel crazy tired but my power numbers told me I was quite fatigued. 😭
I like this climb because it was over sooner than I thought it would be but that’s only partially because the gate to the parking lot at the top was closed.
There wasn’t much a view from that point so we snacked and then headed back down stopping to get photos at viewpoints along the way.
When we got back down, we found a different road back to the downtown that felt like a bike path that was gorgeous.
Once back though, rush hour traffic had ramped up and it was way more chaotic than earlier.
At one point an SUV came flying out from the right and didn’t slow down but then it just stopped right in front of us blocking the bike lane.
We saw maybe our first “accident” of the trip? A man was picking up his bike but unclear how he crashed.
Then after that in the bike lane, all of a sudden I heard Emily yell out and she went down then Pam crashed into her and went flying up over her handlebars.
A moped had stopped suddenly right as Emily looked back to check that we were all there. Something had dropped and the woman on the moped was picking it up. Fortunately no one was badly injured.
We were just a few blocks from being back which luckily ended without any more incidents.

Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
