Wanted to squeeze in one more ride before the rain returns in earnest this weekend and continues through next week. High pressure, no wind and stagnant air. But, temps were reasonably mild. Ride starts from Dundee, at a wine-tasting strip mall just off Highway 99W. The first section, 19.8 miles, goes through the outskirts of Newberg, then several farms and wineries. A little busy traffic-wise on North Valley Rd to Laughlin Rd. First rest stop Yamhill -Carlton Intermediate School. The next 15 miles is on relatively quiet roads to Carlton, then to the Highway 99W junction just outside Lafayette. Next stop was Trappist Abbey, a huge vineyard. The next 5 miles was a nice cruise before the dreaded mega-hill on NE Worden Hill Rd. The hill is 1.4 miles with 750 ft elevation gain and 3 pitches at 12-14% grade. The final 5 miles includes a lengthy descent along Hess Creek. There is another short, steep climb followed by another long downhill back to Dundee.
