Did the Gazos Creek and Chalk Hill portions of the Old Growth Classic route. The climbing up Gazos was steep and loose. Even with my smaller chainring, I still didn't have low enough gearing for the amount of traction that I had. The Schwalbe Big Bens aren't up to the task.
On the very first up hill dirt section, at the end of the paved Gazos Creek, I was lucky not to fall down. My rear wheel spun out a couple times before I did a one-two, spin, spin, and somehow managed to stay upright. I unclipped my left pedal but started to fall to my right. Fortunately I was able to get my right foot unclipped.
I did a lot of hiking up some of the climbs. If I wasn't ahead of the guys, I'd have to stop because they were going slower than I could go.
The descents were fun and not a problem. I thought that would be the tricky part, not the climbing.
Towards the bottom, I was bombing on the left side of the trail and all of a sudden there was a manhole sized hole in the trail. I managed to wheelie the front wheel over it so I didn't crash. That would've been bad.
Sonny did wash out in one of the turns midway down the descent right after I thought I better stop to see how the guys were doing behind me.
I was hoping to do Butano Fire Rd. and Olmo Fire Rd. after lunch but the guys were done.

Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
