I've had trouble pushing my HR into the 130-140 range recently.
Long Hill Road in Bolton has always been a place where I can spin well and get the breathing very high.
Yesterday (9/27) I was on a ride and pushed past everyone (they weren't being combative) but the HR was very flat, topping out at ~124. Later on the HR returned to a noisy plot, but at much lower levels.
I don't know if the monitor had slipped down or perhaps dried out when we stopped at Cupcake Corner(?) on Rt 117.
So today's effort was just to warm up, be sure the strap was tight and up on the chest, work hard and then hit the hill and look at the plot.
I may compare this track to those of a year ago when I could get it higher.
Today's HR plot does not show the plateau either over or back. It gets to 127 going up from Rt 117 and to 124 on the return from Teele Rd/Woobly Rd intersection.
Today's effort was one second faster 3:39, same 11.8 mph. The two climbs were #5 and 7 out of 27
If you go to the SEGMENT list and SHOW ALL EFFORTS, then you can show each individual one and look for plateaus. 5/15/2015 was a slower one that got to 162 HR
I didn't find any other plateaus in the fastest 15-20 rides.
So it's not conclusive.

Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
