Rode with Craig. Intended to do the loop by descending Angeles Crest, but my cleat came loose (SPD) and I was unable to clip when we reached Angeles Forest (at the stops), and I actually fell when I came to a stop and banged my right knee and quad against the bike frame as it came down on top of me, or I rammed it into the frame as I was falling. Anyway, I was unable to settle down into cussing or laughing, and was mixing it up as I had to untie and take off my shoe to get the bike off of me and stand up. I had quite a little knot and charlie horse in the quad just next to the knee, and was trying to walk it off while Craig tried to work the shoe loose from the cleat, then had to strong-arm the cleat out of the peddle, and finally resecured the cleat to my shoe for me. For his trouble, I cut the ride short and we rode back to the start. Before the mishap, however, it became clear to me that I have lost a significant amount of climbing ability in the last two years. I can climb the same number of feet in a day, but much slower. I'm riding at maybe 6.5 mph up Big T in sections I used to take at at least 7.something, up to 8.something.
