Did not intend to go this far. Didn't bring near enough food, and failed to bring my headlight. So I had to ride the last hour in the dark, but everything was fine cause I stuck to a safe route and still had my super bright rear light.
Mostly had planned to simply head over to pike county out and back the usual way through brooks but I decided to explore a powerline cut off of hwy74, which turned into a waist deep crossing of line creek(and I turned around cause it was deeper than that and found a downed tree to walk on). Soon after I crossed the creek I emerged onto a larger powerline cut that had a good road on it leading to a switching station, which had lots of dirt bike tracks. This led beside a really neat old grave site from before the civil war, not marked on old maps. It was set amid really beautiful old oaks and cedars, and the road out of there was lined with mature forest and blooming daffodils all around.
Went through Senoia for the first time in years and so I also got to ride Meriwether county gravel for the first time in a really long time. So good over there.
I did yet more exploring when I got to Joe Kurz WMA and found some really good stuff. There wasn't anyone there and it was dry enough everywhere except the occasional huge mudhole, and I had a blast seeing new places off road. Wish I had more time.
So I didn't really leave there till like 4 so I had to head the most direct gravel way home and still fought darkness and a stiff 15mph wind the entire time. Also bonking. So much bonking.
