I was originally going to do the ride CW but after checking the wind direction, realized it would be better to do it CCW.
I was so proud of myself as the glorious tailwind pushed me along. It wasn't until later that I realized I would be doing more than half my total climbing in the last 20 miles! Not so smert! Climbing Skyline from 84 to Skeggs was the worst!
On top of that, I started a little late so I didn't have time to stop for lunch in Pescadero. Even without lunch, I missed making it back before sunset by about 20 min. It was getting cold and I was definitely running on fumes.
The trails were muddier than I thought they would be and there were a lot of branches on the ground.
I managed to string together Purisima Creek Redwoods Preserve, Pescadero Creek Park, Portola Redwoods State Park, and Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve. Barring the mud, they were all great! Just my kind of trails!
Weird coincidence but my Garmin, my phone and my camera were all almost out of juice by the end of the ride. The Garmin and phone being so close to dead were a surprise though.

Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
