Ten loiterers set off from Northwick Park destined for the big blue and yellow shed which we reached via Wembley Way and the Brent River. Alan opted to guard the bikes, whilst coffee was taken, which gave him a chance to sample the summer range of patio furniture on IKEA’s “beach”. The verdict was good value. The temptation to assemble a Poang was resisted despite probably having enough allen keys in our saddlebags to assemble the whole warehouse. IKEA was followed by our tour of Neasden and photo stop at the brightly tiled subway. Sunny Hill Park provided a magnificent if hazy view of north London and then it was down to the serious business of the ascent of Milespit Hill. Lunch and recuperation took place in the Three Hammers. Service was OK for most of us but Stephen waited an awful long time for a sandwich. The afternoon took us alongside the A1 to Boreham Wood and home via Elstree and Stanmore. Ann kindly offered tea and cake in her garden in Pinner in support of her charity ride in Costa Rica. It was idyllic, it could have been June.
