This ride leaves from Lafollette, TN. It is mostly paved, probably rideable with 28’s and compact gearing. There are some steep climbs, though and a bit of gravel, no guarantees about the gearing, we rode 40’s to 47’s with some low gearing, 1:1 or lower. The views are worth all of the work, they’re magnificent! A lot of dogs along the route, none vicious. The last 12 miles or so are on some fairly busy road, not terrible, but a good rear flashing light is strongly advised. One restocking store in Speedwell. Take what you need, don’t forget to eat, I didn’t and bonked pretty badly. Make the trip, you’ll be glad you did!

Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.

Dog's are the biggest problem I have found riding in this area. The locals are super nice and for the most part respect riders (almost scared to pass). It's the Pit Bull and German Shepard that gives me anxiety on these routes. What have you found helpful if anything?
Sorry, just saw this! I have not been up there in a while. Over a year for this route. Have found the locals friendly. Really only remember a pair of Blue Heelers on this ride. I post on Gravel Adventure Grind on Facebook. Might want to join there?
