There was a steep but short climb from the Clinton ferry dock. I turned off the main highway into a nice less traveled road and then onto a no car path which was short but very nice. Some squirrels were chasing around me within a few feet making all kinds of noise. Besides the squirrels, I also had a rabbit chasing along the road beside me and ran across the total of 13 deer spread into five separate group sighting. There’s no shortage of deer on Whidbey Island. I got a couple of good recordings on video, but then I stopped recording because I was seeing so many. Went through some small towns like Langley and Freeland. There was mostly clouds and hazy completely in the morning until the afternoon. Finally, there was some breaks of the blue sky. I was never cold, but I would sweat on the way up the climbs and then get chilled on the way down at Fort Casey. I saw the ferry dock that I will come back to later in the tour and then I did some steep climbing and got off track and the Fort Casey State park. I turned the battery a little bit and took some picture. It looks like it would’ve been a nice view point but it was too cloudy and foggy to see anything out in the bay. I headed onto Coupeville and hoping to get a late lunch and maybe dinner. I didn’t like the option so I decided to continue to my stopping point at Fort Ebey State Park and eat my provisional Ramen noodle and tuna. I was fortunate to spot the sign for the hike, bike trail. The campsite for these is separate from the other campground and I only saw the sign by chance. No one else is here and I don’t know if anybody will come tonight. The standard campground is sold out. The camp is close to Whidbey Island base and so there’s a regular occurrence of loud military jets flying over. Hopefully they stop by night time.
