There’s a steep climb at the Lopez ferry dock road. Within the 1st mile, I had already seen another deer eating at the side of the road. I stopped by Odlin Park to check on the hike bike situation. Sounds like it won’t be a problem, but I forgot to ask him where the hike bike section was. The little town of Lopez Island had a few restaurants, but I didn’t see any stores on my ride. I rode out to spit viewpoint which was one of the extra out and back sections. Had a nice view point.
The roads on the West side had very little traffic, but also not a lot of viewpoints. Very nice forced areas though. Met a couple out at one dead end Road that I thought would be a view point and found out that they also did too. But there was no viewpoint Stopped at agate Beach. There is a park with picnic tables in a restroom. Strangely the beach all along here says private beach. I don’t know if that’s allowed in Washington being that it’s an ocean front property. There’s no cell phone signal here and I wanted to check the ride with GPS app but for some reason it’s not starting up even though there is an off-line mode. I stick to my original plan route, even though I was expecting no view and ending at private property. It was the case that most spots, but there were a couple that had good views. I was running later than I wanted so I did skip going to the Spencer spit state park. All in all the right is nice because of low traffic but very few viewpoints. Lots of farm fields and forest views.
There is also not many provisions. Only the One city of Lopez has anything of significance. I ran across one little store in the south and stopped to get some food. Other than that I didn’t see other stores or restaurants.
Odlin County Park ended up pretty nice for camping. The hike bike are nice right next to the bay. I got a shared site because it was quite a bit cheaper than a dedicated one and it’s right next to the shore. There is a group of four in a private site and a group of three from the ferry and another private site, but there are no other shared people here other. At this camp, if you have three people, it’s the same cost as the shared for a private hike bike. At the last site, it was closer to two people and the cost is almost the same as a standard no utility site. At Odlin, there is water and vault toilets and no showers. But I like it here.
