Sky City to Ramah, NM Today we crossed the Continental Divide. It feels like a big milestone, like we are back in our neighborhood, somehow. The day started slowly with my bike having a flat as we were about to roll out (with two punctures: thorn and tire wire). I patched them both, which left me with one patch remaining and my one spare tube. We had stops along the way to take pictures, get snacks, get groceries for dinner, get ice cream and chat with the owner for much longer than we probably should have. After rolling out of Grants I got another flat (four punctures, all from thorns), bringing the trip total to 9 now. Megan had gone on ahead, not knowing that I had a flat. I couldn't patch the tube because I only had one patch left so I used my spare tube, knowing that if I got another flat with more than one puncture I would be grounded. I was able to catch up to Megan and we divided all our remaining patches between us. The climb to the Divide was beautiful as it transitioned from scrub brushy with cactuses to a conifer forest.
