Rode with Pete up the Mt Wilson Toll Rd. We turned back at the paved section up at Mt. Wilson in order to get back before dark since we did not have lights. Pete is doing extremely well considering. I rode fairly hard on segments up to Henninger Flats and waited for Pete intermittently, or stopped my timer to circle back to him, so I could get an idea of how long that section of the ride takes me. (Under 30 min.) Thereafter, we just kept a companionable pace. Lots of thunder coming from up by Mt Wilson when we parked, but the storm dissipated as we rode up the mountain. The gate was locked already when we came back down, so Pete led me through the Eaton Canyon Nature Center, which is a little sandy but very easy trail. It looks like there is a branch which would intersect with the Mt. Wilson Toll Rd higher up at a hairpin turn, at about mile 1.1 of this ride.
This gps track was recorded on a Forerunner 305 (without a barometric altimeter); the following metrics of the climb from past the bridge to the sign for Henninger Flats are from my Edge 800:

(Without stopping the timer on the Forerunner, I recorded 0.7 more miles, and elevation change of +1451' / - 177', suggesting a net of 1271' net elevation gain compared to 1240' with the Edge's barometric altimeter.)

Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.

Each time you upload a new ride, your Estimated Time profile will adjust to reflect your most recent riding. Only rides exceeding 10 miles (16 km) will affect these estimates.
