Sort of a gravel ride, sort of a dirt ride, even a little pavement too. Ride could have been done on the WTF gravel bike with the fat tires/wheels but instead we selected our hardtails for this job. Start at White's Ferry, ride five miles of towpath to Edwards Ferry (neither location has an actual working ferry ....) followed by a mile or so of gravel road, then a coupla miles of pavement and FINALLY some MTB work in the new Royce Hanson park. There are five miles of trails there, as advertised, so then back down the pavement to continue along the gravel road. New park trails are not the least bit technical and there are zero stream crossings, but it was an entertaining ride. Great potential for more wintertime riding, when the ground elsewhere maybe iffy because of mud. We'll see. Very strong NW wind by the time we headed, well, NW at about Mile 16.3... With no drops on the handlebars, it was a lot of work and a reminder how hard it can be to ride MTBs on roads out in the open. Absent the wind, it was petty nice weather, though, for late November, with temps around 60 and the sun out... There was no question there would be a ride of some sort today and since most of us had not been on a bike in awhile, a less-climby route was the right choice. w/Mark, Dan
