Today was another nice manageable ride. I got up at 6 and left before 7, according to my schedule written the day before. I first detoured to Nakashibetsu, arriving 15 minutes before my goal cafe opened at 9am. I went to this coffee roastery for a latte and as a bonus I got to pet their immaculately groomed, adorable dog. Actually they had two dogs, a white and a black one of the same breed, but the white one had quickly disappeared as soon as I arrived. The black one I was petting reminded me a lot of Sooty, just with big puffy fur. At about 9:45 I continued to Betsukai. I arrived around 11:30 and the reception wasn't open yet. However, the baseball pitch next door had a game on. It was the local professional team in the Hokkaido League started in 2023, the local team was formed last year as a way for ex-pros to keep their career alive and work in the farms in town at the same time. It was really fun to watch, the locals brought out big drums and chanted the whole time. I got a free cap with my ticket! At the campsite I did some flips to pass the time. Recently I thought I'd lost them since I had a few days where I couldn't land a backflip anymore, but it turns out that was just a false alarm. I was nailing them today. I spent the evening at the local onsen that is literally next door. I bathed and then edited some of the aerobics doco for 2 hours. What a good campsite!
