I left the rider house at 9:30am with a gift of these weird, but tasty, fish snacks from the mum. 6km in I stopped at a 7-11, and while I was inside it started absolutely bucketing. Well, I had to suck it up so I just put on my wet weather gear and started going. I basically just cycled through mostly rain all day. At some points it turned into wet mist, but the wetness never truly stopped. The road was also up and down constantly. I'm sure it would've been a beautiful coastal ride along these small cliff faces, but it was hard to enjoy feeling this wet and tired. I just couldn't wait to get to the campsite. The campsite reception was an onsen. I booked a bungalow at the vending machine, which they then told me they were sold out! Then a woman said "wait! somebody cancelled today" and they let me stay in the bungalow. I greatly enjoyed being clean and dry after the onsen. The onsen restaurant even made me gluten free karaage, which was absolutely awesome. I could tell that the chef was really trying to accomodate me and the food was delicious. I cycled to the campground a few km away on the cape as the last light was leaving the horizon. The bungalow was a small wooden hut, in which I set out my air mattress and pillow. It was worth buying it as it ended up raining pretty hard with some intense winds. There was an annoying ass group of high schoolers on a trip who were yapping right next to my bungalow. Somehow I still fell asleep well though.
