Cold morning! I was leading the group down Rodeo Valley Trail and there were birds, not sure what kind, sleeping on it. Being the first one, I was scaring them and the would take off. The first one was just flying straight in front of me and I was in danger of running into it. It kept weaving back in forth but if it just turned, it would've been fine.
I scared a few more birds and then finally one of the birds I scared was a little to my right when it flew up. It tried to cut across to my left and smacked me right in the face!
The plan was to go back to Old Springs Trail so Kathryn could try going down it again. I was ahead and waited at the first drop. I could see her light in the fog and she wasn't slowing down, a good sign, and then she did it! Just went down it no problem.
Same for the next section. At the top of it she just yelled, "I'm just going to do it!" and went down it too. She also went down all the stairs.
At the bottom I suggested going back up so she could conquer climbing the stairs. She made it almost all the way up. I think she could've made and will definitely be able to next time.
The rest of the climb was a piece of cake too. She got her redemption!
The first time I ever descended Old Springs, was in the morning, sort of dark too and I thought it was fine. In the day it felt sketchier. Coming back and doing it when it was even darker, it really did feel better.

Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
