Avoided the usual route -- Capital Crescent Trail -- figuring it would be full of people out and about and instead went down Rock Creek. First time since Beach Drive and environs inside DC had been repaired. BONUS: sections were closed to cars. Also the first time riding in DC since The Incident in October. Got a good case of the willies riding along the waterfront, thinking about the last trip through there, even if it was in the other direction; looking at the railings and the somewhat narrow trail ... was glad to get back on streets after that. Not exactly in shape in late April but managed to do the whole ride with very little stoppage -- the headwind out of the north, uphill, wasn't much fun, even if it was a single-digit breeze... Sooo not in shape. All in all, a good ride on a day where the forecast suggested it would not be possible... A little cool, perhaps, but dry ... with some puddles here and there. w/Dan
