This route starts with a windy road climb out of Hartford, TN with random scenic sections of gravel that take you over into Del Rio, TN. From here, you start an 11 mile gravel (mostly climb with an occasional descent) ascent to Max Patch in NC. After Max Patch there is a huge descent on gravel to Harmon Den where another gravel climb passes the iconic Buzzard's Roost with views into the gorge of NC/TN.
From there, climb a little bit more and then you will start to flow up and down with views along the way of the Great Smoky Mountains with waterfalls and rivers throughout.
After descending down into Big Creek (Waterville) there is the last gravel climb up to the state line back into TN at Davenport Gap (where the Appalachian trail starts in TN). At Davenport Gap the gravel turns into a well maintained windy road (comparable to a small tail of the dragon) for 10ish miles before the final descent back to the car in Hartford.
Be careful the last descent after a punch climb is a very narrow road with a lot of blind corners. Cars are very cautious but so should you.
