(recalling) Went on a solo ride today. The weather was perfect. Shorts and Short sleeves. The past few days, I've been moving all sorts of things around in my bedroom. As a concequence, my body was very sore the day of the ride. I was expecting to feel the soreness at least half of the ride. It turns out that I had almost no soreness at all. I guess cycling uses those muscles in a much different way. My concentration was good, I was focusing on my form and I felt better balance between my legs. Bike, almost a disaster. About half way through the ride, the rear shifter was not downshifting properly. At first I thought it was something sticky at the bottom bracket, like gatorade or something. So I sprayed some water down there and continued. The problem persisted all the way home. When I got home, I realized that there was something wrong with the cable. I tried tightening it, but that didn't help. So, I lifted the hood on the right shifter and noticed that the cable was frayed. After shifting a few more times, the cable broke. In any case, I ordered a new cable from Nashbar. I also noticed that the rear tire was running on the inner casing, lucky I didn't get a blowout. I ordered a tire the same time with the cable.
