I set off to ride to Staines via Stanwell Moor. The route took me down Royal Lane, through West Drayton to a road named Little Benty and a footbridge over the M4. Although the start of the footbridge ramp has a barrier with a cycle entry it has a top bar set so low that my bike, or any adult sized bike, couldn’t get under so I pedalled down to Wise Lane and my normal entry to Harmondsworth Moor Park.
I do like cycling through the park and followed tracks under the A4 down to Longford. Turning right onto the old Bath Road to Poyle and then down Poyle Road past the Trading Estate to Horton Road and on towards the M25 roundabout.
Followed the cycle track across the motorway and on through Stanwell Moor to the garden centre. Back through the village before turning off to find the track running alongside The King George VI Reservoir, and a bumpy track it is, which I followed to Staines. I got through Staines to the Wraysbury Road with only a little confusion and stopped for lunch at the Perseverance. This pub has a pleasant garden and the Guardsman’s Bitter was pretty good.
Returned through Colnbrook, Richings Park, Thorney Park, Little Britain to home.
Not a bad ride.
