Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
Estimated Time shows a prediction of how long it would take you to ride a given route. This number is based on your recent riding history, and represents an estimate of moving time. Each time you upload a new ride, your Estimated Time profile will adjust to reflect your most recent riding. Only rides exceeding 10 miles (16 km) will affect these estimates.

What's the "Forbidden Section"?
Back in May we had 3 days of very heavy rain that washed out a section of the parkway so, they have about 10 miles of it closed to traffic. They have also closed it to pedestrians and cyclists. Trying to protect us from ourselves I guess. Anyway, there are still a lot of pedestrians and cyclists that use that section of the Parkway. I heard they were ticketing people for using it if they catch you on it. More of the socialist bullshit our government is moving toward. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a National Park.
The washout is maybe about 50 feet in length and doesn't even go completely across the road. It is easy and safe to walk around if you're not stupid enough to go right up to the edge and peer over into the crevasse below.
Yeah, but you have common sense. It's gotten to be so uncommon these days, that it should be considered a super power!
If you consider all the idiots running around, and factor in the abundance of money grubbing lawyers, you can understand why they have to close it. There have been too many cases of people being rewarded for their own stupidity.
Now ticketing people for being on it, that's just the socialists trying to get their hands on you wallet! 😠
I don't mind the sign that says no pedestrians- No Cyclists. I totally understand the need to protect from Lawsuits. I was under the impression that you can't sue the government. Must not be the case. However, it's totally unacceptable the they're ticketing walkers and cyclists for being on that section of the parkway. They have a chainlink fence on both side of the washout.
