Della & I thought it would be the two of us today but were glad that Kevin decided to make the trip after all.
The trail head at North Baltimore is excellent! Nice parking and great facilities. I met a couple of riders in the parking lot that have made this trip before and they recommended a few places to have lunch in Bowling Green. They assured us that all the nicer restaurants in Bowling Green understood “men in tights” and it would not be a problem to drop in on any of them!
So Kevin, Della & I rolled out just after 10AM. I was expecting a lot of open fields and little trail cover but was pleasantly surprised to find that much of the trail is in shade. There were lots of wild flowers in bloom at the edge of the trail and in the adjacent fields. We passed a few D frame bikers on the trail along with a couple dog walkers and joggers but for most of the ride we had the trail to ourselves.
Rudolph is a small town just about at the half way point of the ride to Bowling Green. The small shelter, benches, & facilities are well placed on the trail.
We rolled into Bowling green in the middle of prime lunch time. Now, Bowling Green is a little town (to me anyway) and traffic on the city roads looked pretty sparse. The good places to eat are all on Main Street and are about a mile North & a few blocks East of where the trail ends. When Kevin used his smart phone to plot the route to a highly rated eatery I forgot to tell him that I was advised to use a street parallel to Main Street to go into town. Needless to say, every street in town seemed deserted except Main Street!
Where all the traffic came from is a mystery to me. However, having been taught by the best roadies in the Midwest I knew exactly how to handle this situation. Yep – take the space a cyclist is entitled to on the road and keep rolling ( a mile down Main Street). Della was a real trooper riding down that street on the trike with all those cars. Although I think she did give me the chicken-eye (that's the “what are you doing” look for those not in the know) a few times. Kevin did just fine.
We arrived at the Easy Street Cafe intact and hungry. Being prime time for lunch it was busy but they found a table for us right away. The food was excellent! I think Kevin's smart phone indicated it rated number 3 or 4 in town and we were in agreement.
So this is getting too long and I will wind this up quickly. The roll back was fun and uneventful. All of our machines performed like Swiss watches. It doesn't get much better than this!

Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
