On a grey overcast day seventeen loiterers set forth from Uxbridge en route to coffee at The Five Bells, Harmondsworth via Packet Boat Marina, Thorney Park, Colnbrook, and Longford. This was a slight change to the original plan due to condition of paths in Harmondsworth Moor Park due to the inclement weather the past few days. The staff at The Five Bells did a great job setting up “ self service” coffee on the bar.
Moving on through Sipson, Harlington, and Cranford Park to the BA Concorde Club where we were met by Lawrie, the architect of this ride, and then we were joined by the short ride led by Ian “Mac“. Thirty of us sat down to an excellent lunch.
After lunch there was a a changeover of riders between the groups and I led ten hardy souls on through Cranford to Heston Park and on through Osterley Park to the Grand Union Canal at Norwood. We followed the canal down the Hanwell flight of locks over the River Brent turning of at Green Lane then up through Hanwell to the ”Bunny Park“ and on through Perivale Park to the A40 At Greenford. We then followed the offroad paths parallel to the main road over the canal to Northola Park and afternoon tea.
From here the party dispersed to their respective homes. Not a bad day’s cycling in good company.
