Another Sunday over Alpe d'Pine (out before 5:31 sunrise on the solstice), and then a check of the bird box trail. While stopped to take the usual picture of the clock at the Magnolia train station, I got into a conversation with a guy walking home from the train after his Center City overnite workshift. He said he used to ride a fixed-gear bike to the Speedline station 7 days a week, but got tired of having a flat every other week, so now he just walks the 2 miles. He suggested my saddle needed to be raised for a better fit. Maybe so, by fixie standards. For the second Sunday in a row, I saw a guy with his friendly off-leash German Shepherd in Cooper River Park near one of the bird boxes. We talked again, only briefly this time. Bird box #3 had twigs in it (third time since I cleared out the abandoned tree-swallow nest); looks like the wrens are persistent. I may not remove their twigs in the future.
