Today was our first reroute due to wildfire closures- we were forced to skip Lynx Pass for an alternate route. The alternate wound around Steamboat Reservoir and then we picked up pavement for a while, which was tolerable enough. We stopped for water in the tiny town of Yampa and climbed up to get back on the main route. The riding to Radium was spectacular- good gravel and stunning views, and a super rad descent down to the Colorado River. We took a siesta near the hot springs campground area and then knocked out the last bit of climbing up and over to Kremmling. The descent into Kremmling was fast and fun, and we found a nice if mosquito-y camp spot by the river, where a cool guy in the parking lot gave us cold beers to go with our dinner.
