Rode the single speed. I think I started DFL. Caught Jerry and Lea riding the tandem, and stayed with them to the stop at Carl's Jr in Carlsbad, at which point I took off to work a little harder. (I already had more stopped time than I sometimes have on an entire double century.) I otherwise rode solo all day, except I pulled a small group of Adobo's for about 4.5 miles out by San Onofre before I made a comfort stop in the campground park along there. Further along, I caught Edina's group just before they left the Carlsbad rest stop (where I stayed and enjoyed a slice of pizza!), and found them again at the La Jolla stop where they had regrouped following the climb up Torrey Pines. That was so close to the finish that I just said "hello" and went on my way. I was surprised when I made it to the picnic at Mission Bay that I was the first rider to arrive!
The Adobo Velo volunteers were spectacular out on the route today, and there was a veritable FEAST at the Mission Bay picnic. A wonderful day all the way around.
I was a very late addition to the list of registered riders and rode the train back, which would under normal circumstances be almost as much fun as taking the bus back with the other club members. There are train stations less than 2 miles away from the start and the end of the ride (but you need to reserve space for the bicycle on Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner as there is room for only 6-8 bikes on the train without checking them on as baggage). However, the train was delayed for 2:45 due to the investigation of a fatality on the tracks which held up all the trains for that period of time.

Estimated Time shows a prediction of how long it would take you to ride a given route. This number is based on your recent riding history, and represents an estimate of moving time. Each time you upload a new ride, your Estimated Time profile will adjust to reflect your most recent riding. Only rides exceeding 10 miles (16 km) will affect these estimates.
