Checkpoint. Partly sunny, cool - 38 to 41 degrees, fairly mild Easterly winds. As usual, trails were shit from Ottawa to Marseilles, lots of muddy sections with no gravel, had 10 trees down across the trail in the first 2 miles East, 18 down for the first 4 miles, at which point I gave up and rode on N2753rd St, which parallels the canal trail, but jumped on again on the other side of Marseilles. Not to mention all the sticks and partial trees on the trail - I got off the bike and moved at least a dozen of the more manageable trees and branches off the trail. Cut the ride shorter because of the delays. I don't think I'll start in Ottawa again, will probably move East to Marseilles or Seneca to take advantage of better trail maintenance heading towards Morris or Joliet.
