Participated in Bike the Drive for my seventh consecutive year. Starting at the Fairmont Hotel (at 5:23), I took Columbus to Randolph to Michigan Avenue sidewalk to the starting point at Jackson and Lake Shore Drive. Riding onto Lake Shore Drive at 5:32, I headed south on LSD and rode to the southernmost point of the loop at the Museum of Science and Industry (at 6:05). Resumed ride at 6:12 and rode back to start/finish (at 6:46); then rode to the northernmost point of the loop at Bryn Mawr (at 7:22). Resumed ride at 7:35, took photos near Lincoln Park at 7:52, and rode south past the start/finish (at 8:16) to complete the full circuit. With time to kill, I headed north again. reached the turnaround at Fullerton, then headed south again to the start/finish (at 9:01), then proceeded south again to the Oakwood Boulevard overpass (at 9:19). I took photos and video from the overpass, then headed north for the final leg, passing Soldier Field at 9:37 and reaching the festival in Butler Field at 9:55.
Skies were mostly sunny, with only a few clouds on the horizon at sunrise. The waning crescent Moon passed near Venus before dawn, which I saw as I left the hotel. It was a cooler than normal day for late-May, but still 5 degrees warmer (and no wind) compared to last year's starting conditions. The temperature started at 55 and rose to the mid-60s by ride's end. I wore old style Livestrong jersey over short sleeve undershirt over long sleeve base layer with Specialized tights, regular blue socks over riding socks, and regular cycling gloves. I removed my mid-layer undershirt for the final leg of my ride. I stopped a number of times to take photos and video clips with my iPhone.

Estimated Time shows a prediction of how long it would take you to ride a given route. This number is based on your recent riding history, and represents an estimate of moving time. Each time you upload a new ride, your Estimated Time profile will adjust to reflect your most recent riding. Only rides exceeding 10 miles (16 km) will affect these estimates.
