Participated in my fourth consecutive UPAF Ride for the Arts, which began and ended at Milwaukee's Summerfest grounds. I rode with "Team GLPA" consisting of Gary S., Dave D., Bob B., Geoff H., and me. Bob B. rode the 66 mile route and the rest of us rode the 25 mile Hoan ride. Gary and I (and Geoff and Dave) left Gary's house at 6:46 a.m. and we arrived on-site at 7:08. We began our ride on time at about 7:45 a.m. We were released in waves, rode a short distance, then ascended ramps to the Daniel Hoan Bridge (@ 7:54). After crossing the bridge, we continued southward along the Lake Michigan shore to the rest stop at the Marion Center (@ 8:20) to the rest stop and turnaround point in Grant Park (@ 9:15) to the Oasis Coast Guard Station (@10:10) and back to the start/finish line (@ 10:40). During a significant portion of the ride, I maintained close contact with my team mates, which limited my speed. The high density of riders and the narrowness of the route also limited my speed. However, I also did speed play exercises with my fellow riders, took their photos as they rode by, caught up with them again, then started the cycle again.
The weather was outstanding! Skies ranged from partly cloudy to partly sunny, with temperatures starting at 63 when we left Gary's house to the low 80s by the end of the ride. I wore new style Livestrong jersey and Trek shorts with arm warmers and knee warmers. I took off my knee warmers at the first rest stop and my arm warmers at the turnaround point.

Estimated Time shows a prediction of how long it would take you to ride a given route. This number is based on your recent riding history, and represents an estimate of moving time. Each time you upload a new ride, your Estimated Time profile will adjust to reflect your most recent riding. Only rides exceeding 10 miles (16 km) will affect these estimates.
